Inspired by William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, the series of seven paintings explore themes like fate and comeuppance, mysticism and mythology.  The medieval period that the play Macbeth originates from, is a stark contrast to  our age of technology.  However, Macbeth’s quick, malevolent rise to power and descent from power is familiar, as it alludes to the fall of dishonest men in positions of power in our current age of Me Too.

The aesthetic of Macbeth is an ode to medieval times and all the pieces incorporate embroidery, to reiterate the idea of fate and reference medieval tapestries. With my use of thread, I allude to the Fates and their thread of life and the red string of fate from Asian mythology.
